About the FindSampo Portal
|
FindSampo − Archaeological Finds on the Semantic Web is a system that provides information about Finnish archaeological finds made by the public, especially metal-detected finds. FindSampo encourages innovative and versatile use and study of archaeological finds data on the Web. The system includes a Linked Open Data service, available at the Linked Data Finland platform, and the FindSampo portal based on it. The data of the portal consists of information about archaeological object finds made by the public that have been catalogued to the archaeological collections of the Finnish Heritage Agency (FHA) from 2015 onwards. The finds data has been originally catalogued to the archaeological cataloguing service “Arkeologinen luettelointisovellus” of FHA.
The FindSampo portal is a public research prototype that was developed at the Aalto University, Semantic Computing Research Group (SeCo), as part of the SuALT project (2017-2021) in collaboration with the University of Helsinki (Department of Cultures) and Finnish Heritage Agency. The project was funded by the Academy of Finland.
